Direct Flights to Santa Fe Soon to Be Reality
September 25, 2007
Good news is on the way for Santa Feans who do a lot of air travel from Albuquerque. American Airlines and Delta have newly proposed plans to provide direct flights between Santa Fe and Dallas, Los Angeles and Salt Lake City. Daily flights will be available through American Eagle, partner to American Airlines, partner also to Delta Airlines. The implementation of these direct flights will be starting in mid-December. The airlines will use jets that will accommodate approximately 44 to 50 passengers.
The new flight service will give visitors to the Northern part of New Mexico new alternatives. Travel to the region will be easier than venturing to Albuquerque's International Sunport, which is about an hour south of Santa Fe. With Delta flights to Salt Lake City and American flights to Dallas, travelers have air travel to two large airport hubs to further destinations, not to mention saving money on the high price of gas and parking expenses that the trip to Albuquerque incurs.
American and Delta airlines' pledges to service Santa Fe Municipal Airport are the first commercial jet flights in and out of the airport in numerous years. The Santa Fe Municipal Airport upon this commitment has no further capacity for additional airlines beyond this new agreement due to the limited terminal. I am sure Santa Fe will welcome this new relationship.
