"Excavating Egypt: Great Discoveries from the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology"

Santa Fe will have an Egyptian presence in its midst through the beginning of January. The Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology, University of London, is featuring over 220 Egyptian artifacts at Santa Fe's beloved New Mexico Museum of Art on Palace Ave in Santa Fe.

William Matthew Flinders Petrie, known as the Father of Egyptian Archaeology, excavated in Egypt for more than a half century. It is his incredible findings that document ancient Egyptian civilization with findings beginning in the 1880's to present, that will be exhibited here in Santa Fe. Some of the artifacts on exhibition have never before been on public display. This exhibition tells the story of Petrie, an archaeological legend who pioneered the first scientific excavation techniques. The Petrie Museum holds one of the world's most important, historical collections of Egyptian antiquities in the world.
