County Lowers Price of Designated Driver Program
October 15, 2007
Santa Fe County's Caddy Program is undergoing some changes. For starters they have updated the phone system so callers get all the information they need on the county's Designated Driver Program, including hours of operation, fees, service areas, and also having the option to speak to a County DWI staff member during business hours or leave a message. The second change is the cost of their service. The new established rates are $5 for one or two people and $10 for three or more.
The County saw resident use drop approximately 50% when the County began charging for rides. The previous rates for the program were: $5 for one person, $10 for two or three and $15 for four or more. The overall purpose of the program is to change the culture so people make a designated driver part of their weekend plans. To achieve this, the program must be affordable as well as convenient.
