First Annual Autumn Celebration of Earth Stewardship & Community

Located on Aldea Plaza, 3 Nuevo Milenio, Santa Fe, on Sunday October 21, 2007 from 12 noon-7pm

(October 17) - The Aldea de Santa Fe Village Center Association is holding their first Annual Autumn Festival on Aldea Plaza, in celebration of Earth Stewardship and Community on Sunday October 21, 2007 from 12 noon-7pm. Located on the Aldea Plaza, this event will feature live music by the band RADIO, folk dancing by the Santa Fe Folk Dancers, food provided at Café Aldea, beer garden by Santa Fe Brewing Company, and more. Information about Earth Stewardship will also be provided. This event is sponsored by Aldea de Santa Fe Village Center Association with the support of Aldea Homeowners Association, Stepbridge Studios, Santa Fe Realty Partners, Natural Awakenings Magazine, Comet Studios and others.

Aldea de Santa Fe is a new urbanist village community located off of the 599 in the northwest side of Santa Fe, just eight minutes from the downtown Santa Fe Plaza. Aldea's 345-acre development includes 205 acres of open space and a Village Center approved for up to 160,000 square feet of commercial/retail services within walking distance of Aldea's homes. The Aldea Village Center offers a convenient commercial location for Aldea and other nearby neighborhoods on Santa Fe's northwest side.

The Aldea Harvest Fest will be held at the heart of the Village Center on a charming Plaza intended to be framed on all sides by mixed-use buildings that will offer a variety of commercial opportunities. Aldea plaza is located at the intersection of Avenida Aldea and Nuevo Milenio. Existing commercial space is now available for a cafe, restaurant and community market. Existing businesses include Aldea Community Center, Aldea LLC, Barker Realty, Cafe Aldea, Comet Studios, Daystar, Life Vessel Santa Fe and Santa Fe Realty Partners.

10+ things that each one of us can do to make the pledge to help reduce global warming:

1. Change a light: Replacing one regular light bulb with compact fluorescent light bulb will save 150 pounds of carbon dioxide year.

2. Drive less: Walk, bike carpool, or take mass transit more often. You'll save one pound of carbon dioxide for every mile you don't drive!

3. Recycle more: You save 2,400 pounds of carbon dioxide per year by recycling just half your household waste.

4. Check your tires: Keeping your tires inflated properly can improve gas mileage by more than 3%. Every gallon of gasoline saved keeps 20 pounds of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere!

5. Use less hot water: It takes a lot of energy to heat water. Use less hot water by installing a low flow showerhead. (50pounds of CO2 saved per year) and washing your clothes in cold or warm water (500 pounds saved per year).

6. Avoid products with a lot of packaging: You can save 1,200 pounds of carbon dioxide if you cut down your garbage by 10%.

7. Adjust your thermostat: Moving your thermostat just 2degrees in winter and up 2 degrees in summer you could save about 2,000 pounds of carbon dioxide a year with this simple adjustment.

8. Plant a tree: A single tree will absorb one ton of carbon dioxide a year over its lifetime.

9. Turn off electronic devices: Simply turning off your television, DVD player, stereo, and computer where you're not using them will save you thousands of pounds of carbon dioxide a year.
